Despite a strong finish to last season, Fiorentina recently parted company with manager Vincenzo Montella due to differences in opinion.

However, all the good work done by Montella is in danger of being taken away by the new management. It is still unclear if Fiorentina will go for an inexperienced coach in their own house or hire an experienced candidate in the form of a manager like Paulo Sousa.

Former Portuguese midfielder Nuno Gomes says that he is very confident that Sousa will be able to succeed exceedingly well at the Italian club. Sousa is currently in charge of Switzerland club FC Basel, who have done extremely well in the Europa league and Champions League games. Basel have especially become a thorn for the English teams, as the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool have suffered disappointing games despite the overwhelming popularity prior to the start of the game. Gomes has stated that Sousa would be a suitable appointment given that he is still young and ambitious.
