Ricardo Carvalho has no hard feelings for Jose Mourinho despite the fact that the latter did not treat him in the best way at Real Madrid.
Mourinho first dropped Carvalho at Bernabeu and then, later released him at the end of the 2012-13 Season.
According to Carvalho, there are always some reasons behind a manager making a particular call. It’s important for a player to understand that.
While being interviewed by a Sports website recently, the veteran centre half said, “Jose came to me and gave me the explanation about everything. So, I didn’t feel let down. It’s obviously difficult, but, as a player, you’ve got to understand the situations.”
“Jose made it very clear that it was not possible for him to make too many changes in the back line as all the guys in there were doing pretty well and I was no longer required.”
Not only did Carvalho worked with Mourinho at Real Madrid, he worked with him at Chelsea too. In fact, the duo won the top tier in England a couple of times on the trot together. The relationship between the two was believed to be pretty healthy and that’s why, people were surprised to see Mourinho losing confidence on his compatriot.
After being let go by the Los Blancos, Carvalho signed for the French outfit Monaco. He initially got just a one-year contract, but, his consistency earned him a new deal this summer at Stade Louis II.
Carvalho played in almost every game in the Ligue 1 the previous season for Monaco and he was brilliant in the heart of defence. The start of the ongoing season has been unfortunate for him though as in the opening game versus Lorient, he was shown a couple of yellow cards and he had to go off.
